March / April 2006

We had the honor of being a part of the dedication ceremony of the Roman A. Kaminski Station (Engine 5, Truck 3 and Medic 10). Roman is a very dedicated  member of Box 414 and a true friend of the Fire Department.

I ended my last article stating that January was slow. Well, Mr. Groundhog did see his shadow and February and  part of March has made up for our services. There were 2 Special Calls, 7 Working Fires, 4 Fatalities, (5)  2nd Alarms and (1)  3rd Alarm.

Our last check with Krammes Kustom Body in PA has the  2nd wagon being customized. We can't say right now when it will be on the street.

The annual collection of donations among the members to Box 414 will collected soon.  Don't forget we were there for you!

I want to start my article with a big THANK YOU on behalf of Box 414 for the generous donation that was given to the Club by the members of the Fire Department.

The month of May had the club involved in many activities. We were honored to be a part of the Fallen Heroes Ceremony that was held at Dulaney Memorial Gardens. The members of Box 414 catered the graduation of Class 15 at the Fire Academy. Fire wise, things were quiet for most of the month until Friday May 21st at which time we responded to a 3rd Alarm. The next day we served the Fire and Police at the Preakness. Just when the wagon was finished that detail and before we got back to station, a 4th Alarm was struck. The Coffee Wagon and its members put in some very long hours. Before the weekend was over, we were Special Called to a Working Fire and early Monday morning the Police requested the Wagon for a standoff situation.

The Annual Banquet was a huge success and all who attended had a fun filled evening. I was honored to receive the Charles C. Price Memorial Award for outstanding service to Box 414.

Memorial Day is the beginning of some very warm (maybe HOT) days. The Fire Department can count on Box 414 for our service of that Cold drink and a refreshing cold towel. We will be improving our service to keep up with the needs of the Fire Department.
